On 7 January Alan Murphy succeeded Francis Hackett as the new Managing Partner of Eversheds O'Donnell Sweeney.

Alan's commercial property practice is substantial. He has a particular expertise in negotiating large commercial and retail leases. His clients include promoters, investors and developers both domestic and international, whom he advises on the acquisition, construction, finance and development of large-scale mixed use and urban regeneration schemes. Alan's practice has a particular focus on the structuring and negotiation of tax based investments, with a strong emphasis on the leisure and private healthcare sectors. He also advises on car park and crèche schemes and other tax based investment schemes. Alan is a recommended individual in Chambers Global 2006 and 2007.

Alan's recent experience includes:

  • Advising on a range of tax-based property structures including hotels, crèches, private healthcare schemes and holiday cottages e.g. all hotels within the Carlton Hotel Group, the Hilton Hotel Dublin Airport and Whites Hotel Wexford
  • Acting for the developer of Bridgewater Shopping Centre, Arklow, Manor West, Tralee, Airside Retail Park, Swords, and Monaghan Retail Park.
  • Acting for the lessee in the granting of commercial leases to clients such as eBay and O2
